Documents from a U.S. federal court reveal that several major music publishers, including Universal Music and Sony Music, have agreed to end their legal dispute over music copyright usage with X, the social media platform owned by Elon Musk. Both parties have filed a request in the federal court of Tennessee to withdraw the copyright lawsuit initiated by the music publishers, which accused X of allowing users to post copyrighted music works without authorization, infringing on hundreds of copyrights. Additionally, both sides have also requested the federal court in Texas to dismiss X's previous counterclaim. X had accused these publishers of conspiring to restrict market competition and forcing the platform to purchase music licenses at inflated prices. Court documents indicate that both parties are requesting the court to dismiss the related lawsuits "with prejudice," meaning that the case cannot be refiled on the same claims in the future.
