U.S. Treasury Secretary Warns of Serious Consequences if China Leads in AI
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent warned that if China gains a lead in artificial intelligence and "pulls ahead" of the United States, it will face serious consequences in the future, despite the U.S. having a large defense budget that may not ensure security. This statement addresses domestic opposition in the U.S. to the establishment of large data centers, suggesting that it could undermine America's competitiveness in the AI race. Reports indicate that most of China's new AI infrastructure projects are located in less populated areas in the north and northwest.
