Uniswap Founder Claims Tokenization Will Propel AMMs to Dominate Financial Markets

Uniswap founder Hayden Adams stated that tokenization is changing market structures, positioning automated market makers (AMMs) as the core engine of global financial markets. Traditional market makers rely on vertical integration, while blockchain separates execution, custody, and settlement, lowering market entry barriers. AMMs have an advantage in related asset pairs due to their lower inventory risk, allowing passive liquidity to compete more efficiently. Currently, tokenized stocks are trading on Uniswap with SPY as the trading pair, achieving $33 million in transactions within 12 days. As assets become tokenized, the market will naturally reorganize into related asset pairs and a few cross-chain pairs, with passive AMM strategies resembling index funds, ultimately leading to broader market democratization.
