Ukrainian Drones Attack Fuel Terminal in Novorossiysk
On the night of September 9, Ukrainian drones attacked Novorossiysk, Russia's largest seaport, resulting in a fire at a fuel terminal. Debris from the drones landed on the premises of nearby businesses and close to a residential building, but there were no casualties, reported Novorossiysk Mayor Andrey Kravchenko. The target of the attack was the Novorossiysk terminal, which receives, stores, and ships fuel oil, with a throughput capacity of about 4 million tons per year. According to the Ukrainian monitoring channel Dnipro Osint, one fuel tank was damaged, and a significant fire broke out at the terminal. In August, the Ukrainian Armed Forces intensified strikes on the port, through which up to a third of Russia's grain exports pass and oil is supplied to global markets. After the attack on August 15, oil shipments through the terminal were temporarily halted. In the first half of August, Russia exported about 2.3 million barrels of oil per day through western ports, which is 15% less than the planned volume due to disruptions in Novorossiysk.
