On August 7, Trump, when asked whether Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Waller should avoid raising interest rates before the midterm elections, stated that it depends to some extent on Waller, but not entirely. He pointed out that Waller has a very politicized committee, and the interest rate decisions are not solely made by him, but by the committee. Trump praised Waller's performance and stated that he would not criticize him.
