The Solana (SOL) mainnet beta has maintained a continuous operation for 30 months since the outage on February 6, 2024. The recent uptime rate over the last 90 days is 100.0%, and the monthly uptime rates for May, June, and July 2026 also recorded 100%. Uptime is the ratio of time the network has been functioning normally, serving as a fundamental indicator for developers and institutions to assess the stability of the infrastructure. However, the term '30 months of continuous operation' refers to the period following the February 2024 outage, and while Solana's official research page states '100% network uptime since March 2023', this does not align with the official performance report. According to the March 2024 report, the mainnet was down for 4 hours and 46 minutes on February 6, resulting in a monthly uptime of 99.31%. The outage was caused by a bug in the 'LoadedPrograms' function, where the validator software performed repetitive tasks that halted block production. Solana has been evaluated as a 'stopping chain' due to past repeated outages, but this record signifies a sustained operational stability over a long period. The improvement in stability is attributed to accumulated protocol changes, including the introduction of QUIC TPU, stake-weighted quality of service, and localized fee markets. The Fire Dancer developed by Jump Crypto is also key to enhancing stability, as operating multiple clients can reduce the risk of reliance on a single client. Network stability serves as the foundation for Solana to expand its use of tokenized assets and payment infrastructure within the ecosystem.
