Ethereum: JPMorgan Increases Holdings in Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs in Q2

JPMorgan's latest Q2 holdings filing shows that the Wall Street bank continues to expand its allocation to cryptocurrency ETFs. The company disclosed that its Bitcoin ETF holdings have significantly increased compared to Q1, with an even larger increase in Ethereum ETF holdings, while also re-establishing exposure to XRP ETFs.

Bitcoin ETF Holdings Rise to $355.7 Million

The filing indicates that JPMorgan's holdings in BlackRock's spot Bitcoin ETF, IBIT, have risen to $355.7 million, up from approximately $162 million in Q1. Compared to previous figures, this position has nearly doubled, indicating that the bank continues to increase its Bitcoin-related allocations through regulated products.

In addition to spot ETF holdings, JPMorgan's positions in IBIT-related options have also changed. Its call options have increased to about 3.94 million contracts, while put options have decreased from 4.75 million contracts in Q1 to about 3.5 million contracts, showing a more bullish overall direction than before.

Ethereum ETF Growth Accelerates

In Q2, JPMorgan also significantly increased its Ethereum ETF holdings. The filing shows that the bank's related holdings grew by 338%, reaching approximately $14.3 million.

However, in absolute terms, Bitcoin remains its primary allocation direction. According to the disclosed data, the IBIT holdings are still significantly higher than its Ethereum ETF holdings, with a difference of over 20 times.

Re-establishing XRP ETF Exposure

In addition to Bitcoin and Ethereum, JPMorgan has also re-established exposure to XRP through ETFs. The filing shows that the bank holds approximately $1,356 in Bitwise XRP ETF positions and about $3,763 in Grayscale XRP ETF positions.

This indicates that JPMorgan has returned to XRP-related products in Q2. Although the current scale is small, the changes in related allocations in large bank filings are still attracting market attention.

The funds flowing into U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs have recently experienced fluctuations. Reports mention that on August 13, there was a net outflow of $131.1 million from U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs, following a net outflow of $61.16 million the previous day. Against this backdrop, JPMorgan continues to expand its Bitcoin ETF holdings, indicating that some institutions are still maintaining exposure to cryptocurrency assets through ETF tools.
