Abbas Khan Emphasizes PMF Validation Responsibility for Ethereum Founders
Abbas Khan, former head of support at the Ethereum Foundation, pointed out that the responsibility for validating product-market fit (PMF) lies with the founders, not the foundation. He recently stated on social media, "A truly great founder already knows the direction they need to go and the areas where they are lacking," adding that the requests made to the foundation should be specific and clearly defined. Khan criticized some founders for expecting that sharing posts on Ethereum or receiving support from the foundation would resolve distribution and PMF issues. He emphasized, "No foundation can make you successful; the responsibility for creating the product, finding distribution channels, and validating PMF lies with you." Furthermore, he argued that there should be a distinction between the foundation's support and the project's success. While Khan acknowledged that criticisms regarding the early Ethereum Foundation's lack of support for founders were valid, he stated that it is different for the foundation to complete projects on behalf of the founders. He added that the foundation provides development and security tools for ecosystem projects. Khan's remarks focused on the need to distinguish between the roles of Ethereum ecosystem support organizations and founders.
