Poland to Transfer MiG-29 Fighters to Ukraine in Exchange for Drones

Poland and Ukraine are close to finalizing negotiations for the transfer of MiG-29 fighter jets to the Ukrainian Air Force. In return, Warsaw will receive a variety of drones and technology for their combat use. The negotiations are at the final stage, and the aircraft could arrive in Ukraine in the coming weeks. This agreement has been discussed before, but previous talks stalled due to a lack of information and technology from Kyiv. Poland is interested in battlefield data to improve its drone systems. After a prolonged stalemate in negotiations, a breakthrough has occurred, and the parties are finalizing the agreement. The exact number of fighter jets being transferred and drones received has not been disclosed. Sources report that the agreement could fall through at any moment due to Polish distrust of the Ukrainian side. At the end of last year, Poland planned to transfer some MiG-29s that have been in service since 1989. Recently, the Polish Minister of Defense stated that Warsaw would not transfer the promised aircraft as Kyiv refused to share drone technology.
