CoinWorld reported:
Strive disclosed that after the latest round of purchases, the company has acquired an additional 79 bitcoins, bringing its total bitcoin treasury to 20,246. In addition to its cryptocurrency holdings, the company also retains $154.8 million in cash for daily operations and future capital arrangements.
Funding for Bitcoin Purchases Comes from Capital Market Instruments
The company stated that its bitcoin procurement does not primarily rely on traditional senior debt but rather raises funds through various capital market instruments. This includes issuing preferred shares at market price and a securities program called SATA. These funds are used to continue expanding the company's treasury.
This means that while Strive is increasing its bitcoin holdings, it still maintains an independent cash position and does not need to sell bitcoins immediately to meet operational funding needs.
Cash Reserves Managed Separately from Crypto Assets
The company indicated that the aforementioned cash reserves are separate from its cryptocurrency reserves and STRC investments. This liquidity can be used to support operating expenses and also provides a buffer for future financing or capital allocation.
In the current disclosure, Strive emphasizes that its cash and bitcoin treasury are managed separately, indicating that the company still has available funds and does not need to directly reduce its bitcoin holdings due to short-term funding arrangements.
Simultaneous Assessment of MSCI's New Index Proposal
In addition to treasury expansion, Strive is also evaluating MSCI's new proposal regarding the eligibility of large investment asset-holding companies for inclusion in broad market index components.
Strive previously opposed a practice that could exclude companies like Strategy from the index when digital assets account for at least 50% of the company's total assets. CEO Matt Cole stated that MSCI's current new framework is an improvement over the previous version, as the assessment criteria no longer focus solely on bitcoin or other digital assets but begin to incorporate a broader range of financial and operational metrics.
Cole also mentioned that companies building bitcoin treasuries relying on capital markets and structured financing should still be regarded as operating enterprises. Strive expects to continue communicating with MSCI and will submit a formal response after completing the assessment.
Additional Information: The Strategy mentioned in the text is one of the most closely watched bitcoin treasury companies in the current U.S. stock market, and its inclusion in mainstream indexes is often seen as a barometer of related rules regarding cryptocurrency enterprises.
