Ukraine's International Reserves Fall to $48.7 Billion
As of September 1, Ukraine's international reserves amounted to $48.7 billion, decreasing by 5% in August. The main reason for the decline was the reduction in international financial aid and currency interventions by the National Bank. In August, $927.3 million was credited to the government's currency accounts at the National Bank of Ukraine, of which $894 million came from the World Bank and $33.3 million from other investors. International reserves increased by $1.63 billion due to the conversion of funds received from the European Union under the Ukraine Support Loan program. Ukraine allocated $721.8 million for servicing and repaying state debt in foreign currency, including $357.9 million for obligations to the World Bank and $288.7 million for external government loan bonds. The net sale of foreign currency by the National Bank on the interbank market amounted to $4.85 billion. Despite the reduction in reserves, their volume remains sufficient to maintain the stability of the currency market.
