Ukraine exported 646 thousand tons of sugar, increasing shipments by 11%
In the 2025/26 marketing year, which ended on August 31, Ukraine exported 646 thousand tons of sugar, which is 11% more than in the previous season. The country earned about 300 million dollars in foreign currency revenue from sugar sales abroad. The National Association of Sugar Producers of Ukraine, 'Ukrtsukor', reported that the return of Ukrainian sugar to traditional markets in Central Asia contributed to the increase in exports, compensating for restrictions in the EU market. The share of EU countries in exports rose from 17% to 20%, with Bulgaria accounting for 55% of the sugar supplied to the EU. Among the largest buyers are also Uzbekistan (17% of exports) and Lebanon (16%). 'Ukrtsukor' forecasts that for the 2026/27 marketing year, about 1.2 million tons of sugar will be produced, which should cover domestic needs and an export of 300 thousand tons. Sugar beet processing will begin after September 10, about two weeks later than usual.
