StarkWare completes first quantum-resistant transaction on Bitcoin mainnet

By: coinness.com|2026/08/26 23:21:04

StarkWare has completed the first transaction on the Bitcoin mainnet designed to defend against quantum computing security threats. This quantum-resistant Bitcoin technology uses a hash-based cryptographic system that is resistant to quantum algorithms, as opposed to conventional elliptic curve cryptography. The implementation can occur immediately within Bitcoin’s current script standards, without altering the consensus algorithm or requiring a soft fork. The transaction cost ranged from 75 to 150 dollars per transfer and was processed through direct submission to miners due to its non-standard structure. StarkWare stated that this achievement provides a practical solution for high-net-worth holders to protect their assets from quantum threats without waiting for a network-level protocol overhaul.
