Singapore's Electronics Sector Growth Slows, AI Infrastructure Still Supports Industry Development

On August 27, economists from Malayan Banking Berhad reported that Singapore's electronics sector growth has slowed to an 11-month low, but the industry will continue to benefit from global artificial intelligence infrastructure development. In July, electronics output grew by 11.2% year-on-year, down from 21.1% in June, partly due to a high base from the same period last year. Malayan Banking believes that despite the slowdown in electronics output growth, the AI boom is unlikely to end soon. Meanwhile, the global expansion of chip manufacturing capacity is driving strong demand for Singapore's semiconductor equipment, with Singapore holding approximately 20% of the global semiconductor equipment production market.
