Powell Refuses Four Times to Say If He Will Stay at Fed, Setting Up Fight With Trump

BlockBeats News, February 1st, in a recent article by the "Fed Whisperer" Nick Timiraos, he stated that Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell once again refused to disclose during this week's FOMC meeting whether he would stay on the Fed's Board after his term as chair ends on May 15.
Nick Timiraos' analysis suggests that Powell has this option because his term as a Fed governor does not expire until 2028. If Powell chooses to remain at the Fed, Brainard would lose her seat. This would deal a significant blow to Trump's "manipulation" of the Fed. Therefore, Powell's decision is his final card to resist the government and his only bargaining chip.
