Opinion: Solana Gears Up for Web3 Momentum in 2026 as Institutionalization Trend Heats Up
BlockBeats News, January 2nd, Solana saw a record-breaking Real World Asset (RWA) tokenization activity by the end of 2025, injecting new momentum into its development in 2026. Data shows that the on-chain RWA scale of Solana grew by nearly 10% month-over-month in December, reaching a new high of $8.73 billion, with the number of RWA holders increasing by 18.4% to 126,000.
Currently, the RWAs on Solana are mainly U.S. Treasury-like assets, including BlackRock's BUIDL Fund (approximately $255 million) and Ondo's USD Yield Product (approximately $176 million). At the same time, tokenized stocks of companies like Tesla and Nvidia and institutional funds are also accelerating their landing on Solana.
Solana is expected to become the third public chain with an RWA scale exceeding $1 billion, following Ethereum (approximately $12.3 billion) and BNB Chain (over $20 billion).
Bitwise recently pointed out that if the U.S. passes the CLARITY Act related to the crypto market structure in 2026, the tokenization wave will accelerate, with Solana potentially being one of the biggest beneficiaries. Despite the price of SOL still retracing from its all-time high, a spot Solana ETF has been approved, attracting approximately $765 million in inflows. Meanwhile, Western Union has chosen Solana to build a stablecoin settlement platform, planning to launch it in the first half of 2026, further strengthening its institutional adoption prospects.
