Operation Blackout resulted in the seizure of over $15 billion in cryptocurrency and the arrest of hundreds of individuals linked to international scam networks. FBI Director Kash Patel reported that during the operation, thousands of workers forced into fraud in call centers were freed. More than 500 fraudulent websites were shut down, and around one million scam accounts on social media were disabled. At the end of July, the FBI held a summit in Thailand to discuss measures to combat fraud. The majority of the seized funds are associated with the Cambodian group Prince Group. According to Patel, these funds will be transferred to U.S. government wallets by October 2025. The operation also involved the Dubai police and law enforcement agencies from China and Thailand. By the end of 2025, information emerged about a transnational criminal network recruiting foreigners to work in fraudulent centers. In March 2025, the U.S. president signed an order to create a national Bitcoin reserve, which will be formed from confiscated cryptocurrencies. As of August 5, the U.S. government held cryptocurrency worth $21 billion.
