One in Four Pensioners in Ukraine Receives 3500 UAH Pension

As of July 1, 2026, there are 9.98 million pensioners in Ukraine, with an average pension of 7273 UAH. The number of pensioners has decreased by 190,500 since the beginning of the year. One in four pensioners receives about 3500 UAH (78 dollars). Nearly a third of pensioners, 3.2 million people, receive more than 7000 UAH, of which 500,000 receive more than 20000 UAH. In seven regions, pensioners receive payments above the average, with the highest in Kyiv at 9901 UAH, which is 36% more than the average. In Donetsk region, the average pension is 8990 UAH (24% more), and in Luhansk it is 8752 UAH (20% more). In Ternopil region, the pension is 5657 UAH (22% less than average), in Chernivtsi it is 5839 UAH (20% less), and in Zakarpattia it is 5918 UAH (19% less). One in four pensioners continues to work, with an average pension of 7994 UAH. The government is working on a pension reform that aims to increase the minimum pension to 6000 UAH. The average pension in Ukraine is 27% of the average salary, while in EU countries this figure reaches 58%.
