Ethereum, Solana, XRP, Dogecoin: This Japanese Company Sells Everything to Bet on Bitcoin
Major cleanup in the treasury. Remixpoint, a company listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, has sold all of its positions in Ethereum, Solana, XRP, and Dogecoin. The sale generated 878.8 million yen, approximately 5.5 million dollars at the exchange rate on September 1, with a book value of 761 million yen. The only remaining digital asset on the balance sheet is Bitcoin. This decision goes against the trend of multi-asset treasuries that has seized listed companies, which have dedicated vehicles for Ethereum and Solana. Remixpoint takes the opposite path and embraces concentration.
Key Points
- Remixpoint sold all its altcoins for 878.8 million yen (about 5.5 million dollars), with a net capital gain of 737,000 dollars.
- Ethereum, Solana, and XRP ended in profit, while Dogecoin is the only losing line with a loss of 20,000 dollars.
- The Japanese company holds approximately 1,506 BTC and generates nearly one million dollars from Bitcoin loans over six months.
- Metaplanet, Zhibao Technology, Strive, and Strategy continue their Bitcoin purchases in parallel.
An Altcoin Exit Closed with 736,000 Dollars in Capital Gains
The details are found in the regulatory publication posted by the company. Ethereum generated a capital gain of 60.2 million yen, about 376,000 dollars. Solana follows with 49.3 million yen, nearly 308,000 dollars, ahead of XRP with 11.5 million yen, around 72,000 dollars. Dogecoin closes the list as the only line in the red, with a loss of 3.26 million yen, just over 20,000 dollars evaporated.
Net balance of the operation: 117.7 million yen, approximately 736,000 dollars, which Remixpoint plans to account for in the second quarter of its fiscal year ending March 31, 2027.
The positions were not idle. Before their sale, Ethereum and Solana had generated 29.9 million yen in cumulative staking rewards, about 187,000 dollars. The justification is summed up in one sentence, sober like a Japanese corporate report:
"After thoroughly examining the market environment, the risk and return characteristics of each cryptocurrency, the company's financial strategy, and other factors, the company decided to sell all the altcoins it held." Remixpoint, regulatory communication to shareholders -- Source: remixpoint.co
The proceeds from the sale are not necessarily intended to buy more bitcoins. Remixpoint is considering financing large-scale electricity storage projects, strengthening its balance sheet, or supporting other activities that could increase the company's value.
1,506 BTC and a Loan Book in Motion
After the sale, Remixpoint reports holding approximately 1,506 BTC. The specialized site Bitcoin Treasuries lists 1,501 as of August 19, valued at around 116 million dollars, placing the company 38th globally among publicly traded companies holding bitcoins. The difference between the two totals is explained by the update dates used.
The treasury is also working. From February 24 to August 31, Bitcoin lending generated 14.92055902 BTC in revenue, valued at 164.2 million yen, just over one million dollars. This amount alone exceeds the total capital gain generated by the liquidation of the four altcoins, highlighting the financial arbitrage: a unique asset, a revenue channel, and simplified accounting.
Remixpoint is not a newcomer to the landscape. The group launched BITPoint Japan in 2016. The platform suffered a hack in 2019 involving approximately 3.5 billion yen in cryptocurrencies. Remixpoint then sold 51% to the SBI group in 2022, and the remainder in 2023.
The company also announced that its president, Takashi Tashiro, would receive his entire compensation in bitcoins. Legally, it remains paid in yen: Remixpoint then buys the equivalent in BTC before transferring it to the executive's wallet.
Tokyo Sets the Pace, Treasuries Follow
Japan remains one of the most active markets in this field. Metaplanet acquired 5,075 BTC in the first quarter of 2026, bringing its reserves to 40,177 BTC. Its stock then reached 43,000 BTC before the announcement in August of an agreement to contribute 2,100 BTC and 2.5 million dollars to Super League Enterprises. This operation, which aims to transform this Nasdaq-listed company into a U.S. Bitcoin treasury platform, remains subject to its finalization.
The Japanese tax framework has also relaxed. The reform that came into effect in 2024 extended the annual capital gains tax exemption to certain crypto-assets issued by third parties. However, this exemption is not general: it notably requires transfer restrictions and an intention for long-term holding.
Remixpoint's choice thus appears primarily financial: in just over six months, the lending of its bitcoins has brought in over one million dollars without reducing its holdings. In comparison, the definitive sale of its four altcoins only allowed it to generate approximately 736,000 dollars in capital gains. In retrospect, it was inevitable...
