Economic activity fell by 0.15% in July
Economic activity in Argentina recorded a decline of 0.15% in July, according to the Leading Activity Index of Argentina (ILA-ARG). This drop is attributed to the deterioration in the labor market, a decrease in machinery registrations, and lower internal tax collections. However, the decline is less pronounced than that of June, which was 0.24%. The report from the Rosario and Santa Fe Stock Exchange also highlighted positive signals, such as the increase in National State Capital Expenditure and the Buenos Aires Stock Exchange Index in dollars. On the other hand, Equilibra estimated a monthly contraction of 0.5% in the economy, although with a year-on-year growth of 0.5%. Non-primary economic activity fell by 1% year-on-year and 0.4% month-on-month, accumulating four consecutive declines. Primary sectors grew by 11% year-on-year but fell by 0.8% month-on-month. Despite the monthly decline, the ILA showed an increase of 3.9% compared to July 2025. The Buenos Aires Stock Exchange Index in dollars has seen nine consecutive months of improvements. However, the monetary base fell for the tenth consecutive month, and net job creation experienced its fourth negative month in the last 11 months.
