Binance Spot Trading Volume Accounts for 10% of Perpetual Contracts

Binance's spot trading volume currently accounts for only about 10% of the perpetual contract trading volume. Analysts point out that this phenomenon reflects market participants' preference for derivative trading, although it does not necessarily indicate that the market is in a bear phase. Traders are increasingly inclined to use derivatives for hedging, leverage operations, and short-term position management. This ratio has remained low for most of 2026, and even when Bitcoin prices rise, the growth rate of spot trading activity lags far behind that of perpetual contracts. Historical data shows that higher participation in spot trading typically indicates strong demand for actual asset purchases, while a market environment with high derivative trading volume is more influenced by position management and leverage operations. The current changes in market structure may be an important signal of demand shifts; if participation in spot trading begins to expand relative to derivatives, it could indicate a broader transformation in market demand.
