Binance founder Zhao Changpeng (CZ) recalled in his new book that he was approached in early 2014 to become the CEO of Mt. Gox's China region. This position was facilitated by the head of Susquehanna International Group's China region, originally planned for Susquehanna to provide funding support, Mt. Gox to handle technology, and CZ to manage operations in China, with an approximate 10% equity stake.
CZ stated that he subsequently met with Mt. Gox founder Mark Karpeles in Tokyo, but just as both parties were close to signing, Mt. Gox suddenly suspended withdrawals on February 7, 2014, leading to a crisis, and he ultimately decided not to join.
