Chilean Exchange Orionx Suspends Withdrawals, Over 100,000 Users Unable to Retrieve Full Assets
Chilean cryptocurrency exchange Orionx has suspended withdrawals and is gradually winding down operations due to a forensic audit revealing that over $7 million was transferred to wallets beyond their control. Orionx has filed criminal charges against founders Joaquín Díaz and Roberto Zibert, accusing them of using customer assets for external trading from 2018 to 2021. The Chilean Financial Market Commission stated that Orionx continued to operate after its fintech business authorization was denied in July. More than 100,000 users are unable to receive guarantees for the full return of their assets.
