Amazon Expands AI Server Cabinet Deliveries, Strong Shipments from ASE Technology, Wistron, and Foxconn
Amazon's AWS is expanding its AI server cabinet deliveries, with strong shipment momentum from partners such as TSMC, ASE Technology, Wistron, and Foxconn. Amazon has revised its capital expenditure for this year from $200 billion to $220 billion, primarily for AI infrastructure, including data centers, servers, and networking equipment. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy expects the demand for AI computing power to exceed supply until 2027, with strong demand anticipated even in 2028. AWS's AI business and self-developed chip scale have grown to $25 billion, maintaining triple-digit percentage growth. Most of the customized ASIC chips from Annapurna Labs are produced by TSMC using advanced 3-nanometer processes. ASE Technology is a key partner for AWS's self-developed AI chips, with expectations for record-high quarterly revenue and profit this quarter, and continued growth projected for Q4, as demand for 3-nanometer AI accelerators exceeds previous assessments, with designs expected to be finalized by the end of the year. AWS's ASIC AI cabinets are assembled by Wistron, which also supplies switch trays, while Foxconn is involved in CPU trays. Foxconn's rotating CEO, Liu Young-way, stated that this year has seen new progress in the ASIC project, with a target market share set at over 40%.
